Job Description


The Department of Psychology of Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University invites applications for the position of Director of the McShane Center for Psychological Services, to begin September/October 2021. This position will have a faculty rank of Clinical Associate or Full Professor (non-tenure track). The position is located at the University's New York City campus in lower Manhattan.

The Psychology Department at Pace University offers five graduate programs (Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology, Ph.D. in School Psychology, Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology: Health Emphasis, M.S.Ed. in School Psychology, and M.A. in Psychology), two undergraduate programs (B.A. in Psychology and B.A. in Applied Psychology and Human Relations), and a combined B.A./M.A. program. The Psy.D. program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) as a combined professional-scientific psychology program and also approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The Ph.D. in School Psychology will be enrolling the first cohort in Fall 2021 and will be applying for APA accreditation. The Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology (with Health Emphasis) will be applying for APA accreditation. The McShane Center is the clinical training site for the PsyD and Ph.D. programs. The Director is responsible for running of the center working closely with the Chair of the Psychology Department, the doctoral Program Directors, the Director of Practicum training, and the McShane Center Advisory Board. This position may involve a limited teaching role in the Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology or the Ph.D. programs.


Job Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology or a combined degree from an APA accredited doctoral program
  • NYS licensure as a psychologist or eligible for NYS psychologist licensure
  • Appropriate experience as a supervisor
  • Interest in all aspects of diversity; skills in working within systems; and professional goals which are consistent with the McShane Center
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an administrative capacity working with and developing systems
  • Experience in program development and coordination
  • Applicants should be grounded in the evidence-based practice of psychology which includes a multitude of modalities and approaches (e.g., cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic) for both children and adult populations. The specific area of expertise within clinical psychology is open.
  • Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to address their experiences in these areas. A commitment to ethical guidelines as well as cultural and other aspects of diversity is fundamental.
