
The Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health (MIAEH) within the University of Maryland, School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track).
MIAEH faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for their impactful scholarship across a number of domains, including climate change, water reuse, airborne infectious diseases, environmental justice, environmental policy, air and dietary contaminants, community engagement and global health.
The Institute comprises ~25 diverse tenure and professional-track faculty and offers three academic degrees in programs directed by the MIAEH faculty: the MPH with a concentration in Environmental Health Sciences and the MS and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences. MIAEH faculty additionally teach in the BS in Public Health Science (PHSC) undergraduate program. MIAEH faculty and staff are committed to the just transformation of institutionalized structures of oppression and the development of an inclusive, equitable community.
Qualifications: Applicants must possess a doctorate in Environmental Health Sciences, Environmental Epidemiology, or closely related fields; demonstrate potential for outstanding scholarship and extramural funding; have teaching experience using inclusive pedagogies, preferably at the graduate level (especially for Associate applicants); and demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse body of students in a mentoring role. Successful candidates will be expected to lead an independent yet collaborative research program, teach and mentor students, and provide service to the university and profession.
While consideration will be given to all areas of environmental health specialization; preference will be given to applicants with training in epidemiology with a focus on climate change, environmental justice, environmental determinants of infectious diseases, One Health, or global health and especially those with cross-cutting experience in these areas.
Salary and appointment date: This will be a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Maryland offers a comprehensive benefits package. Appointment begins in the fall of 2023.
