Job Description

 

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Visual Arts department seeks applications from creative and rigorous-thinking animators/artists with expertise in 3D computer graphics animation, as well as interactive, alternative, and/or hybrid forms of animation.

The department has been a forerunner in computing in the arts and UMBC is the only Research 1 (R1) institution also recognized in ModernThink’s Great Colleges to Work For as a top institution nationwide in every measured category, from well-being and shared governance to mission and pride.

This tenure-track, 9-month full-time appointment begins August 2023. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The review of applications will begin on January 27th, 2023. Thereafter the position will remain open until filled.

Job Requirements

The position is open to artists with a significant record of creative achievement and academic experience as well as recent MFA graduates and also industry professionals who have obtained an MFA and are seeking to begin an academic career. Other requirements include knowledge, skills, and abilities to model and animate using 3D computer graphics applications, including game authoring software that utilizes 3D; 2D computer animation, gaming, AR/VR, and/or digital-material hybrid forms; a commitment to fostering inclusivity as UMBC is especially proud of the diversity of its student body and we seek to attract an equally diverse applicant pool for this position.
