
The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (UWSP) College of Natural Resources (CNR) is seeking a tenure-track nine-month academic year teaching (100%) position available in the Environment and Society Discipline.
Primary responsibilities are teaching, research, scholarship, and service. This position builds and leads the natural/cultural history interpretation portion of an undergraduate environmental education and interpretation program (EE/I).
Teaching responsibilities within the EE/I and Wildlife Education programs include courses in oral interpretation methods, interpretive media, and environmental interpretation practicum for the CNR’s various field stations. Additional teaching obligations may include lecture or discussion for introductory natural resources courses; cross-discipline courses on social science research methods, organizational leadership, outdoor recreation programming, or public relations and communication; and online courses for students enrolled in the Master of Natural Resources degree program.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in interpretation or a related field, earned at the time of application, will be considered for hire at the Assistant Professor level, with the doctorate required to be completed by July 1, 2026. Candidates with a master’s degree in interpretation or a related field who are enrolled in a doctoral program will be considered for hire at the Lecturer level with the opportunity for promotion to Assistant Professor, provided a doctorate is completed within 6 years.
- Demonstrated experience in university teaching, providing professional development training, or delivering public interpretation programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one post-secondary degree in natural science or natural resources.
- Proven skill in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
- Applied experience in natural/cultural history interpretation or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, write, and design interpretive media for general audiences.
- Demonstrated experience teaching oral interpretation and interpretive media methods.
- Demonstrated ability to publish social science research in interpretation or a related field.
